I find when I second shoot for Anny Photography, I’m always blessed to spend the day capturing different cultures. Over the past four years while working for Ann I have had the opportunity to learn so much more about each of the Asian cultures and the beauty of their wedding traditions. Mew & Jeff’s wedding was no different, in fact it might be the most cultural specific wedding I’ve shot to date. Their Marriott Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center Wedding made sure to reflect their culture, heritage and the most important things to them. Mew & Jeff had a traditional Thai ceremony – there no vows, no exchanging of rings, no officiant presiding over a service. Instead, selected family members came up and adorned them in jewelry or markings. Then every single guest individually blessed them and poured water over their hands. Such a beautiful and intimate moment between the two of them and each guest. Their wedding fell on one of the coldest April days we had with overcast skies but fortunately, it didn’t snow, despite the forecast calling for it. This cold spring wedding featured gold sequins bridesmaid dresses, soft blush roses and lots of greenery. Mew wore a gorgeous lace and tulle wedding dress but changed into a traditional Thai dress for the ceremony which was adorned with traditional Thai jewelry.
