My little sister is getting married and it’s about time!! Kayleigh & Mitch are high school sweethearts. They’ll be married in September and at that point they will have been dating for 10 years and 9 months. Throwing her a shower today was a true honor and a blast. Kay has 8 bridesmaids and so to make things easier we split up into “teams” – #teambridalshower & #teambachlorette. Each team is in charge of spearheading the planning and execution of each major event, we’re obviously helping each other as well. I was #teambridalshower alongside of Arielle, Stephanie & Katie (and mom, she joined in on the team and we are so glad she did. She’s got a talent for this party planning stuff!) We envisioned a “New York Cinderella” theme. We’re not sure it totally translated honestly BUT the day was beautiful and perfect and we couldn’t have dreamed of it being any better!!!
We had three activities – and three “prizes” for the activities.
We started the party out with a moment to recognize and love on Kayleigh. Everyone in the room got anywhere from 2-5 tickets and had to introduce themselves, how they know Kayleigh and things they loved about her, memories of her, etc. But only for each number of tickets they had of her. It took longer than we expected but I think we’d all agree it was the best part of the day. The chance to give Kayleigh that gift of ultimate love was amazing.
We then played the “newlywed game”. We had asked Kay & Mitch some questions and then gave the ladies three options to choose (a, b or c) from as to what their answers were. It was quite comical.
Lunch was prepared by my mother-in-law and it was amazing! We had chicken salad, shrimp salad and tuna salad. Green salad, a pesto pasta salad (my mom made that), spinach squares, chips and copper pennies (marinated carrots).
Mitch’s cousin got married last year and for her bridal shower he built a “wishing well” where her presents could be put into. We changed up the use and had people leave notes of “well-wishes”, words of advice and other love notes to the newlyweds. We’ll be creating a book of these and pictures from the shower for them to have.
The cake was made and decorated by the incredible Elise of WinniE’s Bakery! It was so perfect! She even made the shoe for the top!!! Thank you Elise! Oh and everyone couldn’t stop raving about the cake and how scrumptious it was.
In addition to the cake, my mother in law made 4 different kinds of brownies and I think we might have about 4 slices left over. We ladies love our brownies thats for sure! And of course we offered ice cream with those brownies and the option to dibble on some baileys and chocolate sauce. We loved our brownie & dessert bar and so did our ladies!
The other game we played was to have the guests guess what year the photo was taken in. Since they’ve been together for so long, they’ve got so many pictures from the years.
A couple years ago, a family asked Kayleigh if she would dress up as Cinderella for their daughter’s birthday party. They rented the dress and crown and everything, all Kay had to do was show up with it on and play Cinderella for all the little girls. Of course, that picture had to make a debut at her “Cinderella”/modern princess shower!
“From Miss to Mrs” We asked the guests to bring the gifts unwrapped. That way we could spend more time enjoying each others company and not awkwardly watching Kay open presents.
Getting love from her flower girl, Molly.
The bridesmaids (Left to Right: Arielle, Stephanie, Hallie, Ashleigh, Me, Kayleigh, Jenny, Katie & Jamie)
Isn’t she stunning!!
Meaghan from Made You Blush did her makeup and hair and it was perfection!
Congrats guys!!! We love you!!!
