They met at the end of the aisle. Maura’s dad moved out of the way and grabbed Maura’s arm. The moment of complete joy and love in their faces, I walked to the back of the church and said to Nicole (who was second shooting for me), “That might have been one of the sweetest moments I’ve photographed.” Their day was full of moments like that. Real genuine moments, perfectly them. Moments all about them and their love for each other. When I met them on zoom back in 2021 to discuss their Delta Hotels By Marriott Baltimore Hunt Valley Wedding, they told me they weren’t going to have a traditional wedding. They didn’t want a normal timeline. They didn’t want getting ready photos or really too many detail photos. They wanted the moments. The candids and the party. Their wedding couldn’t have come at a more perfect time in my career. I’m almost ten years into this business and yes, don’t get me wrong, I love a good bouquet. I love the details and all the pretty. But I’ve come to realize I’m drawn to the moments. The images and the captures that fifty years from now you’ll pull out of the box or you’ll open your wedding album and the images that will bring you back to those love filled feelings, bring you back to the joy and excitement you felt as you embarked on your forever, will be the images like this first one below. I’ll still be documenting all the pretty and all the details (seriously, please give me all the big textured bouquets) but there’s going to be a big massive emphasis put on the moments from now on. Even more so than before and honestly I think it’s always been a focus for my team and I. Just now, we’re even more inspired!
