Capturing engagement portraits in Mt. Vernon is always special, but Meg and Ben’s session in Baltimore’s historic district was truly one for the books. This wasn’t just another engagement session—it was a celebration of a love that started over two decades ago on the playground. Having photographed Ben’s proposal a year earlier, I was thrilled to join them once again, this time as they prepare for their Evergreen Museum wedding.
Meg and Ben’s love story began long before anyone could have predicted. They met in kindergarten and grew up side by side through elementary, middle, and high school. In fact, Meg vividly recalls the first time Ben nervously approached her locker in 8th grade and said, “Hi Meg.” It was such a simple greeting, but it marked the beginning of a lifelong connection. Ben hurried away down the hallway without saying anything else, but soon after, he managed to get Meg’s phone number and they started texting non-stop.
They shared their first kiss during that time, but middle school relationships were tricky. Ben made the classic middle school mistake of telling everyone they “hooked up,” not fully understanding the weight of that phrase, and Meg quickly ended the relationship before it even started! Despite the hiccup, they stayed close and had an on-again, off-again “situationship” through high school. Prom came and went with them attending as friends, but nothing more.
Their story took a new turn in college when they both attended schools in Philadelphia. After years of keeping in touch, they reconnected at a party at Ben’s college, and the sparks finally ignited. From there, their relationship grew into what it is today—a beautiful, supportive partnership built on years of friendship, shared memories, and, eventually, love.
Their engagement session in Mt. Vernon was a reflection of that deep connection. The vibrant cityscape, with its historic buildings, statuesque architecture, and timeless charm, set the stage for a romantic and meaningful session. As we wandered through the neighborhood’s iconic landmarks, from the Washington Monument to the serene parks, Meg and Ben’s chemistry was undeniable. They were relaxed, playful, and fully themselves—just two people who had grown up together and were now on the verge of a lifetime together.
Meg’s radiant smile and Ben’s soft, loving gaze made for picture-perfect moments throughout the session. You could see how comfortable they were with each other, a testament to the years they’ve spent side by side. Whether walking hand in hand down the cobblestone streets or sharing quiet moments together in front of the stately architecture, every photo captured their deep-rooted connection.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over Mt. Vernon, it felt like the perfect metaphor for their journey—years of shared history coming together to create something truly beautiful. Their engagement portraits were not just about celebrating their upcoming wedding but also about honoring the years they’ve spent growing together from childhood friends to soulmates.
With their Evergreen Museum wedding just days away, I couldn’t be more excited to see Meg and Ben take the next step in their journey. Their love story is one filled with laughter, twists, and turns, but through it all, they’ve found their way back to each other. Congratulations, Meg and Ben—I can’t wait to capture your wedding day and see what the future holds for you both!
