I thought for Alex and Ben’s fall engagement portraits in Orwigsburg blog post, I would let them tell you their story! I hope you enjoy learning about these two!

How did you meet? “Though we met at a mutual friend’s New Years Eve party in 2018, our story began nearly a year earlier, when Ben met my best friend from college, they said “mutual friend”, on a ski trip. Ben’s best friend started dating my best friend a couple months after that New Year’s party, so after almost another year of getting to know each other and with our friends running interference, we finally admitted that we liked each other at a Santa Bar Crawl in Baltimore in December of 2019.”

What was your first impression?
The night we first met, we actually didn’t interact very much. Ben thought I was pretty, I thought he was VERY tall, and kinda cute. But my best guy friend, Ben was visiting from Massachusetts. Friend Ben is actually in my bridal party. Cute Ben thought that friend Ben and I were dating…friend Ben and I definitely weren’t, considering he’s gay. It was very slowly over time and after spending a lot more time together that we started to get to know each other more. I started to realize he was very nerdy, incredibly generous, and, though quiet on the surface, very silly around his friends. Ben started to first notice, over time, my smile, that I had good taste in beer , and that I’m also a big nerd.

What is a favorite memory from when you guys first started dating?

My favorite memory from when we first started dating were the times when I was still living in the city and when Ben and I would walk to Patterson Park, find a tree to sit under and read. We would walk all around the park talking about which trees we liked, and how we each had a favorite tree. He even took me to see his favorite tree in his hometown. Ben’s favorite memory from when we first started dating was one of the first times I came to his house for a movie night when I introduced him to the movies What We Do in the Shadows and Empire Records. We got cuddly and drank good beer talking about all our favorite movies and that night, created an ever evolving list of movies to watch together.
