I opened my email back in March to find an email from this guy Naweed. His 7th wedding anniversary was coming up in April and he was interested in a shoot. “Our wedding experience with out photographer was not too great and our photos came out terrible. In order for us to keep wonderful memories, I am looking to surprise my wife by doing a shoot that recreates our big day.” He went on to describe the not one but two shoots he was interested in, a traditional american wedding & a traditional indian wedding. I immediately knew this was going to be a dream. After much conversation and back and forth scheduling, we finally got two dates on the calendar for their Fulton Anniversary Portraits.
One of Naweed’s family members was trying to set him up with this girl, he arrived at her home for their date but there in the kitchen stood Fawziyah. Fawziyah was at the home to help get this other girl ready for the date and help out around the house. Naweed met her and couldn’t get her out of his head. This was the girl he wished he was taking out. He came home and told his family, he contacted Fawziyah who was convinced she was never going to get married cause she just never had interest in it…after many attempts he finally convinced her to let him take her out and he completely changed her mind. Fast forward to their wedding day in London, England. A traditional indian wedding but with a disappointing photographer. Their day just wasn’t what they wished and had hoped for it to be. Last year they just moved to the States and Naweed knew he wanted to gift his beautiful bride with something much more special than a typical anniversary present. When I arrived at their home on for our first session and walked into their bedroom where Fawziyah was getting ready, I was in a photographer’s dream world with the light, the details, the beauty of Fawziyah. Immediately I fell in love with everything about this day and was instantly inspired.
They wanted their pictures to be more than just about them. They wanted it to feature their family as well. So they dressed up & posed because that’s what family does.
Photographing these two could’ve lasted all day I swear. They are a dream to capture.
A week later, I showed up for their indian wedding photoshoot. Jaw-dropping indian wedding photoshoot was more like it. Did I mention that Fawyizah did her own makeup and hair for both shoots…she’s a makeup artist!
