We stood on the grass of the ceremony location, looking out over the water. The temperature had dropped about 10 degrees, the wind picked up to a hair tossing, sign tipping speed. We saw those big dark grey clouds out over the water. We had already been hit about an hour before with a fast and quick storm but it had been ok, we were inside the hotel. Now, we were 10 minutes away from the ceremony start time. Would we make it or would the storm clouds open up right on top of us?!

They say it’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day. I never knew the reason behind it, so I looked it up…when a knot becomes wet it becomes nearly impossible to untie it. Fortunately, that second storm, while it hit, it waited just long enough for the “I Do’s” & every guest made it inside before the clouds opened up and dumped a bunch of rain.

Erika & Andrew’s relationship began at the start of Erika’s biggest and toughest storm she had ever had to go through in her young life, the very unexpected loss of her father. They’ve experienced one major storm together when their ropes were just beginning to tie & they made it out stronger and tighter. So while those rain storms came in yesterday on their wedding day & they hoped they wouldn’t, they took them in stride. They buckled under. Endured the rain, the missed sunset portraits on the beach but laughed & loved through the day regardless.
Congratulations Erika & Andrew! The day was absolutely gorgeous and I pray that no matter what storms you face in the years ahead, you’ll face them with the same love & laughter I saw you enjoy yesterday!!
