The sun pushed through the clouds as we stood at Meridian Hill Park. As we headed toward the end of their Meridian Hill Park Engagement Portraits, I asked Elizabeth and James to slow dance. A definite favorite “pose”, if you will, of mine. I asked them to slow dance. As they started, James with ease twirled Elizabeth. Elizabeth knew exactly how to land her feet. She swayed her dress in just the right way. This clearly came easily to them. “You two are professional slow dancers aren’t you?!” Elizabeth giggled. “We’re kitchen dancers!”
When we arrived at Meridian Hill Park, one of the first few things they both mentioned was how nervous they were about these portraits. They were so nervous, they even skipped breakfast. I’ll be honest, this is something I hear from almost all of my clients. None of my clients are professional models. But by the end of every session, just like with Elizabeth and James, I always hear how much fun they had and how surprised they are to hear that it was “actually alot easier” than they expected. You will be seeing these two again very soon. Like two weeks from now soon, they’ll be getting married at the DC War Memorial in a small intimate ceremony followed by a dinner with their closest friends and family.
Elizabeth and James, I am so excited to be working with you both. You two are one of my Covid silver linings! A strange thing to say and think about but a blessing nonetheless. Thank you for being so trusting of me, for having fun and for being kitchen dancers. You’ve definitely sparked that desire in me to become a kitchen dancer with my hubby myself. Let’s just see if he’s in for it! I think he might be. Can’t wait to see you both on August 1st. It’s going to be a gorgeous day!
