It was a cool morning, birds chirping. The sun streamed in through the trees, which side note, is one of my favorite things. That golden warm light pushing it’s way through tall green trees. The shadows and highlights it creates on the ground below. It definitely creates a happy place for me. As we turned left down the path, you could hear the rushing of the falls in the close distance. Our goal was to find the overlooks for Rita and Phil’s Great Fall Engagement Portraits. We strolled along the sun kissed path, the heat starting to kick in under our masks. We walked about five minutes and hit the end of the path, which quickly brought us to the obvious conclusion – we had gone the wrong direction. So we made a quick little u-turn and walked back the other way. As we approached the first overlooked, it was a tight path way back, that opened up into a beautiful view of water rushing over the rocks.

Rita and Phil were completely in for all the adventures and anything I asked of them. They easily fell into quiet moments between the two of them. But just as much without any effort, were able to find moments of pure joy and laughter. Rita and Phil met in middle school. Being so young, they remained friends through college – despite Phil having a crush on her, Rita only saw them as friends. After college, they both took different paths in life. Rita was in North Carolina. Phil was in Maryland. 10 years after college graduation, Rita came back to Maryland to visit. They ran into each other while hanging out with mutual friends. Their friendship was sparked and they started texting and talking everyday for a month, which ended with Rita finally seeing and agreeing that this was more and agreeing to a date with Phil.

Rita and Phil, exploring Great Falls with you two was an absolute blast! Thank you for asking me to come along on the adventure and for being such naturals for the camera. Rita, thanks for climbing all the rocks, even in heels! You love, are braver than I! Can’t wait for your micro wedding in September!
