My biggest regret from my own wedding day was not focusing on soaking in as much time with my brand new husband as possible. I got so wrapped up in all the activity, I feel like I now have very few memories from the day of the two of us being together. So when we walked out of the ceremony from Alex and Ben’s The Links at Gettysburg wedding and discovered that the The Links at Gettysburg coordinator had provided Alex and Ben with two beers on the patio table, I saw a moment for them. I encouraged them to just be. To spend five to ten minutes just the two of them, drinking a beer. Soaking in this newlywed moment. No distractions. No hustle and bustle of a wedding day. Just sitting on a patio, drinking a beer. We even choose to forgo post-ceremony portraits and focus on golden hour instead. They were blessed with the most perfect May weather for their The Links at Gettysburg wedding which paired perfectly with an outdoor ceremony and a reception that quickly poured out onto the back patio.

I would say these photos prove a few things.
1. You need to do a first look
2. Take time just the two of you. And if your vendors don’t offer it, tell them you want it.
3. Take golden hour/sunset photos
4. Sit back, relax and soak in your wedding day!

Congratulations Alex and Ben!!! Thank you so much for asking me to be present on your wedding day and to be a part of your vendor team. To be in your corner and for trusting me when I said let’s forget more portrait time now and instead focus on sunset portraits. Your wedding day was stunning and I pray that it was the worst day for your marriage. Think about that for a minute. 🙂
