As I pulled up to Emily’s parents home, Emily was arriving back from the salon. She escorted me to the room she had prepared for the purpose of getting ready in. Every detail was perfectly thought out, she even had a vision for how I would shoot within the space based off my style. When I showed her sneak peeks at the end of the night, the one that she really lit up for was the one of her dress hanging in her room. It was, as she said, exactly how she imagined that shot happening. Every detail involved in Emily and Tyler’s wedding day, served a purpose. Every detail had a meaning and was thoughtfully planned. Emily went to a flower farm and choose her own flowers and put her own bouquet together. She put her bridesmaids bouquets together. The boutonnieres and the centerpieces. Emily really focused on creating this beautiful DIY wedding in Gettysburg for the two of them to celebrate their marriage. The bouquets she created, featured mushrooms! Yes, mushrooms. Why you might ask? Well, Emily has a love for mushrooms. Emily personally foraged each mushroom from the forest, she specifically choose certain mushrooms for the meaning that they have behind them.

I didn’t get an opportunity to meet Emily and Tyler for their engagement portraits prior to their wedding day, which is not a typical experience for me and my couples. I went into the day with some questions about how they would be during portraits, questions that get answered during engagement sessions. However, I was pleasantly and ecstatically surprised to learn that these two and their sweet natures pair beautifully and comfortably together. As a result they required no direction and fell into moments naturally. They were a blast and an absolute blast to photograph. Their beautiful DIY wedding in Gettysburg was tastefully simple from the beginning to the end, full of heart and was wrapped up with an incredible party. It even included an apron dance that required a shot before dancing with Emily or Tyler.

Emily and Tyler, congratulations! Thank you again for having me and Nicole. It was incredible working with you both and I look forward to hopefully working together more in the future. Emily, as I said when finished portraits, I pray that your wedding day is the worst day for the rest of your lives. Think about it 😉 Congratulations! Here’s to a lifetime of bliss!
