20 Getting to Know You Questions – some fun little facts about the girl behind the business
It’s so important to our business relationship that we know each other. It will help tremendously in making us comfortable together which means the images we capture are a true capture of you! So some Fridays every now and then I’ll be sharing things about myself – welcome #FridayIntroductions to the MEP Blog site! And what’s fun about this is that, this isn’t just one sided – please share about yourselves as well in the comments! I want to know about you guys!!! Oh and if you have more questions for me – ask them! 😀 I found this 20 Getting to Know You Questions questionnaire over on another photographers blog and thought it was perfect! I also found a few other questions in other parts of the world and added those in.
So let’s get started!
- What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
This one is kind of a tie – between Elf & Miracle on 34th Street. But sadly I only own Elf, so I don’t get to watch Miracle as often as I would like.
- If you could live in any period of history, what would it be?
The 50’s! There has always been something about the iconic idea of the 50’s that I’ve longed for – the poodle skirts and soda shops, Drive-In movie theaters (fortunately we have one right now that I love going to- Bengie’s– it’s a must if you haven’t!).
- What’s your dream occupation – the one job you’d love to have if you weren’t doing what you’re doing now?
A Food Critic – I mean you get paid to travel the world and try some of the most decadent food at the most prestigious restaurants. At least that’s what the job is like in my head & I’m a fan of it!
- Describe your first car and what you loved or hated most about it.
My first car was a 1990 Toyota Camry. I wasn’t a fan honestly. I mean don’t get me wrong I appreciated the fact that I had a car at 16, one that I didn’t have to purchase but that comparative game set in. The friends had these cute Honda Civics and Jeep Cherokees and I was over here driving around this old Grandma car. I had it for about a year and then passed it onto the sister when I left for college before it completely died. Then I got my cute Honda Civic a few years later!(oh how I loved that little red honda civic!)
- What one accomplishment are you most proud of?
Owning and running my own business! I have absolutely no education in business, in marketing. Everyday I wake up and I use the knowledge that I learned the day before, the experience of trying an idea and discovering its effectiveness toward the next goal. I read blogs and Facebook pages. I watch educational videos. I work closely with others in the field. I ask questions on Google, Pinterest, of friends & family, on Facebook. But yet, with no beginning knowledge, here I am in my 3rd year of business. A thriving, growing, productive business! A passion and love of mine. I never thought that at 26 I would be here…but here I am and I honestly couldn’t be more proud of myself!
- What mistake have you made that has taught you a lesson?
Well this one is tricky…there’s so many mistakes. So many lessons learned over 26 years…
- What’s the most unusual item in your desk drawer?
So on top of my desk at my full-time job, I have a bag of croutons. I guess that would be unusual right? I just have it there for all the salads – its easier than wasting ziplock bags all the time to bring in some croutons. And you can’t have a salad without croutons.
- What’s your favorite sports team and how far will you go to show your support?
I gotta be honest, I don’t follow sports. I’m a Ravens & Orioles fan because I’m a raised Baltimore girl! I’m a Giant‘s fan cause of the hubby. And because I’m a geek at heart, I’m a Gryffindor fan! So how far will I go to show my support – I own a t-shirt for all and attend games here and there. But don’t ask me about the latest game or who plays for the teams (other than a few obvious players).
- Share something funny or endearing about your pet.
Oh wow! Where do I begin. So my doggies are my world! I have three in my life. I’m sister to Murphy(my first love&old man, yellow lab, 15 years old) & Tucker (the crazy man, chocolate lab, and only a year old but weighing in at 110lbs!). Then there’s Jake. My baby, yes, I’m one of those people whose dog becomes their child! #sorrynotsorry …so what does Jake do that’s funny or endearing, pretty much everything he does. He has his own hashtag devoted to him – so check that out for some funny & endearing things. (#jibbyjoo) But I gotta say his thing is his expressive eyebrows. They’re funny and so sweet.
- What’s your guilty pleasure?
Medical dramas. You know, like Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve been watching since it premiered. I’ve watched the entire series beginning to end on DVD once and am in the process of doing it over again right now. I get pretty addicted to it.
- What’s on your Bucket List?
To many things! I share a few of them on the about me page. But I actually have this little journal that I write in once a year and in there I have about two pages worth of bucket list items – like being a mom, running a marathon, jumping out of an airplane, getting a tattoo, traveling the world…

Harry Potter. No questions asked. That was easy 🙂
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Italy! Assuming though that I could bring all my family & friends, a good ol american hamburger & bagel & air conditioning! I spent a month living abroad in Rome and traveling all over the rest of Italy back in the summer of my junior year in college and loved every single second of it – I’ll be sharing more about my experience in the future. But those four things were the only things that brought me back home(and the fact that my passport expired after that month). And honestly a lot of me stayed in Italy and never came back. I miss it everyday. The culture, the atmosphere, the history, the lifestyle and yes very much the food! . Oh how I miss it.
- Are there things that you sometimes don’t understand, but pretend you do?
Politics. I just don’t get it, honestly. I really do try but it just don’t seem to click. So in conversation, I’ll listen and pretend I understand but really I’ve drifted off to a different world. A world without politics and all the negativeness that comes with it.
- How do you show yourself that you love yourself?
This is something I’m really working on changing this year. In the past I would by relaxing and watching movies and eating unhealthy food. Which isn’t the right way to love yourself – because of that I’m now in a state where I’m unhappy with my body and my health – which has in turn caused me to not love myself. So this year, my goal is eating healthier and working out(I’m slowly falling back in love with working out and miss it on the days that I don’t get there – it clears my head and calms my mind.) and finding other fun ways to love on myself (massages, pedicures).
- What will you never give up on?
My marriage. Marriage isn’t something you enter into lightly. It’s not a whim of a decision and one that you can look at as a temporary situation. Marriage is a decision for a lifetime. There are going to be really difficult times and it’s not something you just get to walk away from. I can’t imagine my life with him. I can’t imagine going through life with anyone else. Or someday having babies with anyone else. Or house hunting. Or even just cuddling watching a movie with anyone else. So I will always and forever fight for my marriage – every single day, every single action and word about and toward my marriage is building, strengthening, fighting and loving on my marriage&my husband.

- If you could have one superpower – what would it be?
I’d want to be a “jumper”, you know from that movie, Jumper. They just get to jump and show up in anywhere in the world – want some pasta from Italy for dinner? No problem. Wanna see the Great Wall of China during your lunch break? No problem! I mean seriously how awesome would that be!!
- Have you ever had a nickname? What was it?
The most common is, Meg. I love being called Meg but most people don’t – only a few people (mom, dad, Kay, Ian, Nick & Mitch – basically just the immediate family). Then Mom since birth has called me her “nutmeg” – she says I’m the spice of her life. And then there’s Meggowaffles – my Uncle Pete calls me this – it’s like our thing and I love it!
- What makes you laugh the most?
My awesome and super hilarious husband! He doesn’t think he’s that funny but sometimes he just makes these comments and I can’t breathe I’m laughing so hard. By far one of my most favorite things about him is his humor.
