I drove down the gravel dirt driveway. The driveway bent and opened up to an expansive view of old fenced horse pastures. Rolling hills with that one lone tree full of green leaves. The sun laid across the tall grass on this warm sunny morning. As I drove down their long driveway, I could see the grey barn trimmed in white that Olivia had told me to look for. In her email with directions to meet them, Olivia mentioned, “we live in an unconventional home.” Their home is a quaint cozy loft built into that grey barn trimmed in white. Jason greeted at the door and I immediately felt like I was arriving to hang out with friends. We headed out to their backyard, those gorgeous rolling hills, for their Gettysburg Engagement Portraits. Amongst the tall grass, periwinkle flowers popped through. I asked them to start in the first pose and they immediately fell right into it. The ease and comfortability these two have together is evident just within spending five minutes with them. Olivia had joked she had seen another engagement session on my blog, “The couple doesn’t even know me but I totally love them. I absolutely love how intimate and romantic their moments were and the way you captured that for them.” Her dream for her and Jason’s Gettysburg engagement portraits, was that we would be able to capture those same kind of moments. But she feared that she and Jason were too goofy for those romantic kind of portraits. I think we can all agree, that she had nothing to worry about. These two can definitely turn on the romance!
Olivia and Jason, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. For trusting me to capture your true selves – romance, goofy, all of it! You two are the absolute sweetest souls! Thank you for my little Reese’s take home, I’m happy to say that I still have a few of the peanut butter cups left but the pieces are gone haha. After your engagement portraits, I am a million times more excited for your wedding! Photographing the two of you is a blast!
