Maternity Portraits at Centennial Park are always beautiful, but this session was especially meaningful. On a softly overcast day in Maryland, my associate photographer Sam met two sisters—both past brides of mine—at Centennial Park to document a truly once-in-a-lifetime season of life they are experiencing together.
Megan and her husband Matt are preparing to welcome their second child, already familiar with the rhythm of parenthood. Alongside them, Megan’s sister Miranda and her husband Shaun are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first babies—a set of twins. Photographing these families together felt like witnessing two chapters of the same story unfolding side by side.
Centennial Park offered a peaceful, neutral backdrop for this session. The overcast sky softened the light and allowed the focus to stay exactly where it belonged—on connection, emotion, and the relationships between everyone present. Sam guided the session gently, giving the sisters space to interact naturally and authentically.
There were moments of shared laughter, quiet conversation, and instinctive gestures—hands resting on growing bellies, glances exchanged between sisters who know each other deeply. These in-between moments are what make maternity portraits feel timeless.
What made these Maternity Portraits at Centennial Park so special was the contrast between the two journeys unfolding. Megan carried the calm confidence of someone who has done this before, while Miranda radiated the excitement and wonder of first-time motherhood. Together, they created a powerful reminder that every path into parenthood looks different—and that all of them are worth honoring.
Matt and Shaun played an equally important role in the story. Their steady presence, pride, and support grounded the session and completed the picture of two families growing at the same time.
Capturing these Maternity Portraits at Centennial Park felt especially full-circle, knowing both sisters once stood in front of my camera as brides. Now, they stood together preparing to welcome new life, surrounded by family and love.
These portraits aren’t just documentation of pregnancy—they are a celebration of connection, sisterhood, and the fleeting season before everything changes. Moments like these pass quickly, but photographs allow us to hold onto them long after they’re gone.
