The six of us stood at the baptismal font. The rest of the large marble church empty. We all wore masks. Camila hungry for a snack and ready for a nap, dressed in a long white baptism gown, she fussed. Monica grabbed a few puffs from the diaper bag. “If it is your will that Camila is to receive baptism and faith through the church, please place Camila over the baptismal font.” Patrick held Camila on her back, facing the ceiling with her head over the font. “Camila, I baptize you in the name of the Father, of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.” I met Monica, Patrick and Camila in the late morning for Camila’s St. Peter’s Catholic Church Baptism. We started with a few portraits in the church’s garden next door before heading in and officially welcoming her into the family of God. The weather was absolute perfection! We couldn’t have been graced with a more beautiful Sunday morning to baptize this sweet girl.
Congratulations you three!! Camila, welcome to the faith. May you be immeasurably blessed by your faith and grow in your incredible relationship with God. One that is life full-filling and sustaining. I know your parents will guide you on that path, as they have proven to already do by having you baptized. Monica, thank you so much for reaching out and asking me to capture such a momental moment if your lives. It was an honor to do so and a pleasure being there as a witness for it. Patrick, it was wonderful meeting you!
