The sun beat down on us as we headed for Patterson Park. We had started at their row home just a block or two from the park. When planning Mike and Emma’s Patterson Park engagement portraits, they wanted them to reflect a typical date night a home. They’re parents to two fur babies, Hattie and Roger. As Emma said, Roger, their cat, isn’t the nicest and she was pretty positive they wouldn’t be able to get a photo with him but she wanted to try. After capturing a few snuggly moments in their cozy Baltimore living room, we headed for the park. As we strolled through the park, a light breeze blew. Families were out on their evening walks. Kids were playing. Outdoor work out sessions were happening. A family had rented a pavilion, music was playing. The park was buzzing. There was a kind of comfort in the hustle and bustle around us. After coming out quarantine, it was nice to be in a safe space with people and activity.

We strolled through the park, sweating. I’ll be honest. Tehya of Furever and Fur Always was with us to care for Hattie. The stroll felt like a small group of friends hanging out, going for a walk to get some ice cream. Our end goal was Bmore Licks. It was definitely on all of our minds with the relentless sun. Even though it was 6:00pm in the evening, the heat and humidity didn’t want us to forget them. It just made the ice cream even more enjoyable. Emma remarked, as her bright blue Cookie Monster ice cream dripped down both hands and covered her face, “I’m glad we did at this at the end.”
