Meet Jonah. He just turned 13 – which means that in the Jewish world, he’s officially a man. Which also means he had a lot of work to do – studying the Torah, learning Hebrew, learning how to read Hebrew and then speaking it in front of all of his family and friends. A few days before his Bar Mitzvah I got to catch up with this crazy awesome kid and his insanely awesome parents at Oseh Shalom for some formal Bima pictures. I wasn’t at the actual ceremony but I heard he totally rocked! Which I knew he would!

Jonah – like all smart and awesome people – is a huge fan of Harry Potter!

So the special kippah’s that they purchased and gave out for the service were designed after a golden snitch and carried the inscription “Expelliarmus – Wingardium Leviosa – Expecto Patronum”. So very much in love with these kippahs!

Jonah’s project that he worked on for his Bar Mitzvah was this gaga pit. He put the plans together, got permission, organized the team to build it and helped in building it. Its now used and loved by the youth of the synagogue. So of course, we had to grab some shot of him with it – posed and some action!
