Mr. Hudson Scott has been keeping us on our toes since the beginning. He’s been calling the shots and surprising us at every turn, so his birth should’ve been no different. Being breached meant that a scheduled c-section was best. It was set for February 12th, Kay and Mitch had talked to the doctors and his team. They were ready and prepared for February 12th. Then the night of February 10th, Hudson decided he was ready and sent mom into labor. They arrived at the University Of Maryland Medical Center that evening to be told, “Yup, you’re in labor. You’re not going home. We’ll get you scheduled for a c-section tomorrow morning.” At 9:45 am this 8 pound, 4.5 ounces, 20.2 inches of joy came into our worlds with a big old scream as the doctor held him up over the curtain like Simba. He almost immediately headed for the NICU, where he was scanned and checked over and found to be absolutely perfect. His heart looking exactly as they expected and with no further concerns. He was here!! Our boy was here to be loved on. He spent a total of three days in the NICU, heading home on Valentine’s Day. If you haven’t been following along on Instagram or Facebook, you wouldn’t know, so let me fill you in…we’re pretty smitten with this fella and are pretty positive that he’s perfect – heart and all!

I headed over to my sister and brother-in-law’s house about a week later for his Overlea Newborn Portraits and in true fashion he made his Aunt very happy with his modeling abilities. We worked through a couple of outfit changes and a few snacks to stay happy and we’re very lucky with all the shots he allowed us to capture.

Hudson Scott, you sir, my Squish (as I have officially nicknamed you), have blessed our family in ways you will never know. You have made my little sister a mama and she’s a beautiful mama at that. Watching her and your daddy with you overflows my heart with such an amount of pride and love that can’t be expressed in words. I have prayed daily for you since we learned of your existence and I promise you that won’t be changing anytime soon. You might only be a few small pounds but you have already changed the world. I can not wait (ok I can wait – stay little forever my love) to see you grow into the superb gentleman that you will become. To see what mountains you will move, how many lives you will change and how you will change them for good. We love you beyond words!
