I drove toward Marriottsville. Driving down 70 I could see the looming black clouds in front of me. As I drove closer to the Howard County line, the rain started. I was only ten minutes from my destination but the rain was so heavy, I seriously considered pulling over. Fortunately the rain let up just a little bit and I kept driving. We had scheduled to meet at six o’clock in the evening. That was until we saw the forecast. We decided to move the shoot up to three pm. But as I drove through this storm, I questioned our decision. Katie had reached out in the middle of winter. She had a vision. Her family, her parents and her brother’s family all together in one portrait. She wanted to make sure we’d be able to coordinate all four schedules and knew she needed to get on my calendar soon. I met this sweet family at Katie’s parent’s gorgeous brick home in Marriottsville for their Marriottsville Family Portraits. When I arrived, I was so excited to see the sun was out. This was actually going to happen. Unlike my fears on route 70 had convinced me. Everyone came out the side door and we wandered around back to their wooded backyard. As we wrangled four small girls, took group portraits, individuals and other combinations, we sped through the session at record speed. Thank goodness we did because just as we finished up the last portrait, the heavens began to open. That storm that I had driven through only thirty minutes earlier, was now on top of us. It held off long enough for us to get back into the house and me back into my car.
Katie, thank you for reaching out so soon and for thinking of me for your vision. It was such a pleasure to meet you all and capture this moment for you. Girls, you four are such sweethearts! Thank you for being such amazing models and posing so well.
